Unboxing/Review: Notoriously Morbid Cosmetics

I got another package the other day!!! I am almost at the end of things I will be getting in the mail but it has been a pretty good run. This one is from Notoriously Morbid Cosmetics. They were having a holiday sale so I decided to try out a few eyeshadows. It came well packaged in a bubble mailer.

Inside that was this adorable little bag.

The bag had a cute glittery bat sticker on it that I stuck on my Lunatick coffin case! So here are the colours I received.

The colours I got were Mint To Die For, The Doctor's Wife and Kompanion No. 9. I also got samples of Shadow of Things and Neno. Here is a swatch on my arm with no base:

I will list them from top to bottom.

Mint To Die For: This is a gorgeous soft minty green. It is a matte base with some lovely green glitter in it.

The Doctor's Wife: This is a Doctor Who themed colour and it really does remind me of the Tardis. It is slightly bright in person that this photograph shows. It has a low sheen and sparkle to it, but seems pretty matte. This is also an amazing match for my Impulse Cosmetics Smoking Gun lipstick. I'm kind of excited to try a look where my eyes match my lips soon. This shade a a serious tendency to stain, which is the only problem.

Kompanion No. 9: This is a gorgeous colour. It is a blue-toned grey that has a red duochrome to it. This is one of the most interesting colours I have seen in a while, and the picture really doesn't do it justice! It has become one of my favourite shades lately because it is so unusual.

Shadow of Things (Sample): This is a beautiful blackened base filled with aqua blue sparkles and shimmer. I really like this, but I have a lot of similar shades.

Neno: This colour is fantastic! It is a taupe shade that is just packed with sparkles. I am planning on buying a full size of this one as soon as I can!

Unboxing: Lunatick Cosmetics Labs Palettes!!!!

Another package came in the mail the other day!!! I love getting mail! This time it was my Lunatick Cosmetic Labs palettes. This is just a quick unboxing post so that you can see how it was all packaged. I will have a full review and swatches up soon, but I think I need more time to test these out first.

Even more boxes!!! We finally reached the actual packaging though. This was all wrapped in hot pink bubble wrap too. The coffin box was empty, since the palettes I got wouldn't fit inside, but you still get one with every order over 50$ I believe. I like it anyways because it can fit all my other Lunatick products, which my last coffin box wouldn't. Now, for what's inside the box.

The palettes were wrapped in shrink wrap and then tissue and the whole thing was filled with confetti! I love the packging! The two palettes I got were the Asylum City palette and the Jack's Nightmare palette, which was a limited edition holiday palette with a Nightmare Before Christmas theme. That is one of my favourite movies and I knew I couldn't pass this up!

Unboxing: Madison Street Beauty

Another package came in the mail today, this time from Madison Street Beauty. They had a 60% off sale over the holidays and I decided to try them out. Unfortunately, I was far less excited when it looked like this:

Apparently, my package was damaged in the mail.

What was left of it had been put into a plastic baggie with an apology from USPS on it.
If that wasn't bad enough, when I started to inspect my eyeshadows I found they weren't even what I had asked for. I had ordered 7 shades and I only have 5 here. I can't tell if that's the post service's fault or Madison Street Beauty's. On top of that one of the shades I did receive is not what I ordered and another one of the jars is barely full. Here are a couple comparison photos so you can see a full jar and then the other jar.

I know that a lot of shadows are measured out by weight not volume, but even that doesn't account for this jar having less than half the product of the others.

Right now I am really unimpressed with either USPS or Madison Street Beauty or both. I'm not really sure. I have sent a message to the owner to let her know about my issues and am waiting for a response. I'm too upset to even swatch the things I got right now. I will do a full review of this company once this has (or hasn't) been resolved. Here is a quick picture of what I did receive anyways:

I will update this as soon as I can! I got another holiday order in the mail today and will have an unboxing for that tomorrow, so look forward to that! That should more than make up for this debacle!

Unboxing: Mystery Packages!!!

So, I mentioned already, but I did go a little crazy ordering things for myself over the holidays. There were so many indie companies having amazing sales and I wanted to try a lot of them out. I bought so many things though, that when two packages arrived in the mail today, I had no idea what they were! So, here is my mystery package unboxing!

I decided to start with the white package. It felt smaller and I decided to save the big one for last. When I opened the first one up I found this:

My Star Crushed Minerals order!!! They were having a huge holiday sale and I decided to try out a few things. My package arrived with a sweet little note from the shop owner. Here are the three laid out:

The little baggy was filled with star shaped confetti/glitter too! I love adorable touches like that. The products I got are a mini jar of Wine, a burgundy red, and bigger jars of Electric Teal Nebula and Olive Pink. Olive Pink looks amazing so far, I can't even describe it. I will have swatches up very soon!

Now on to the next package! Here is what I found when I opened it:

My Glamour Doll Eyes Order!!! They were having a 50% off sale a little while ago, and you also got free shipping if you spent over $40! I have been wanting to try Glamour Doll Eyes products out for a really, really long time, so I couldn't pass up this offer. Here is everything laid out:

In the top row there is Melancholy, Schizophrenic, Gold Digger, Mushroom, Shamrock, Electric Chair and Electric Lemonade. In the bottom row is Aqua Foil, Smoked Diamonds, Presumptuous, Foxxie, Fiji Mermaid, Lexington and Cloud Coverage. I also got sample baggies of Victorian and Urban Trash. I will have swatches and a review of all these up soon as well. The package also came with a few cute business cards of theirs and a Sedona Lace card that has a discount code on it! Sedona Lace is a brush company I have yet to try, but I think I might check them out now. The spending ban is still on, but I can at least look and save this code for when I can buy again.

Unboxing: ELF Cosmetics Haul!

Before Christmas ELF was having a 50% off their studio line sale. I have never tried ELF products before and figured this would be a good, cheap introduction. They also had free shipping (or part off the shipping outside the US) if you spent over $35! Shipping to Canada over the holidays actually took less time than I thought it would. It made it here before New Years!

That's everything I received! I won't go through everything in this post, since that would take forever, but expect a few reviews in the future! Some of the things I am most excited to try are the Makeup Lock & Seal, the Hydrating Face Primer, the brushes I got and the lip products.

Their customer service is alright. They never gave me a tracking number at first. I had to separate emails from them that were supposed to have a tracking number and instead were just blank. When I contacted them about it though, they got back to me within the hour and gave me my tracking number. I also am missing one item that I purchased, a geometric eyeshadow palette. The invoice that came with my order even has that item circled on it, like they also noticed it wasn't there before they shipped it, or something. I have sent another email to them about that and am waiting for a reply. I expect it to take a bit longer since I am writing this New Years day. I will give you an update when they do reply.

Well, that's it for today. Sorry for the bad picture quality, but these were taken on a camera at my parents house instead of here with my camera. I had to go pick it up there and was just too excited to wait!

Unboxing/Review: Muy Linda Collection Lipstick In Mula

After my awesome introduction to unusual lipstick shades with Impulse Cosmetics navy blue called Smoking Gun, I have been on the hunt for more indie brands that make weird colours. My search brought me to the Muy Linda Collection page on Etsy where they have some fabulous looking colours. After a little research I found they also have their own website, but Etsy already had all my information saved, so it was just quicker for me to order that way. The lipsticks cost $6.55 on their Etsy store and shipping is extremely reasonable, even to Canada. I decided to order only one lipstick to test out the quality, since there weren't a lot of reviews. The colour I picked is Mula, a "Creamy green lipstick".

I ordered this on November 24 and it arrived yesterday, only a week and a half later. That seems pretty quick to me! It came in a bubble mailer and when I opened it I found this:

There was no note or anything just this little cardboard thing and inside it was the lipstick. I can't really fault it for not having fun packaging when it came so darn quick though. The packaging of the actual lipstick is not bad. It feels thick and sturdy and looks really nice, but when twisting up the lipstick it somehow feels cheap and like it isn't quite working right. Regardless of that it still looks cute and it houses an amazing product!

The colour of this lipstick honestly doesn't look anything like the green in the picture when I ordered it. This lipstick has a much yellower undertone than the photo which shows a definite blue undertone. I am a bit disappointed, but I am still impressed with this bright green. I feel like an evil witch instantly when I put it on! The formula is also very creamy and opaque. Once it dries down it has an almost matte finish but if you look very closely it is filled with little glitter particles in various shades of green. I don't know how I feel about the glitter, but so far, it isn't very noticeable. They do remain on the lips after the lipstick has worn off, which isn't the best. The formula on this stuff is very interesting. It starts off very smooth and creamy. It dries down to a less creamy consistency after a little while and after that it seems to transfer very little. When it dries down though, it does make any lip imperfections way more noticeable. Exfoliated lips shouldn't have a problem with this. This does give this a pretty darn good wear time, from what I can tell. I haven't worn it a full day so I can't be sure. It did live through a meal of oily pasta pretty well though. Here is what it looks like on my face:

Please excuse my ridiculous purple robe. I was getting ready for work and hadn't picked my clothes out yet! No I didn't wear this to work. I am thinking I might tomorrow though. We are having a sale and I will be forced to wear a ridiculous Santa Claus hat, so why not wear green lipstick? The lipstick actually looks more flattering on than I was expecting. I mean I still look like I am diseased, but it's like sexy scurvy!

Overall I think I like this lipstick. It isn't as moisturizing as others, but it doesn't really dry my lips out too much either. The colour is not something I think I can wear on its own though. If it had been more like the picture it might have worked, but the yellow tone in it can make you look a bit sick. This will probably work well paired with the right eyes and cheeks, but it definitely doesn't work alone. I think this will look great in an ombre lip with Impulse Cosmetics' Maui Wowie lipstick too! I have a few on the way from Impulse Cosmetics right now that are more of a teal green that will probably be better for wearing alone, but until then I will play around with this one. So far I still prefer Impulse Cosmetics, but this is nice too. They have a collection of winter lipsticks that includes a silver, gold and bright white that I am tempted to get, now that I know I like the formula.

Unboxing/Review: Impulse Cosmetics!

My package from Impulse Cosmetics arrived today! Impulse Cosmetics is an Etsy store that sells lots of eyeshadows, glitters and amazing lipsticks. If you want to check out the store you can go here.

This arrived extremely fast. Normally in Canada I have to wait about 2 weeks to get anything being sent from the US. I purchased this on October 26th and it arrived today, November 4, so just over a week. We also don't get mail delivered on the weekend, so it could have been here sooner if I had ordered it on a different day. Anyone living in the US will probably see their package in under a week. This is what it looked like when I got it:

As you can see, it wasn't packed up very well. It is just in a plastic envelope, not even a bubble mailer. I was a little disappointed with that, but once I opened it everything was fine. Nothing I ordered was particularly breakable. The items were put into a little baggie to keep it all together and the baggie was wrapped in a piece of pink tissue. This is everything once I got it unwrapped:

The actual packaging isn't amazing. The jars are alright, but everything has stickers printed on regular paper and just glued onto everything. It is a small indie company though, so it doesn't really bother me at all. The lipsticks do come in a chapstick tube as opposed to a lipstick tube, but the application isn't as difficult as I thought it would be.

What I ordered from Impulse Cosmetics was their Glam Glue eye base, and eyeshadow in Oil Slick and two lipsticks. The lipsticks are in Smoking Gun, a navy blue, and Psychedelic, a bright purple. The eye base feels very nice on the skin. It gives a lovely smooth base under eyeshadows to make them stick. I can't comment on whether or not it would crease, since I haven't had a chance to try it out for a full day yet. I will keep you posted on that. All the other products are amazingly pigmented!!! Here is a swatch of the 2 lipsticks on the left and oil slick over to of the glam glue on the right.

This picture is a little fuzzy but it very accurately shows the colours. What it does not show is the insanely pretty rainbow glitter in Oil Slick!!! Seriously, I have a lot of different glittery black eyeshadows but this is the prettiest! The eyeshadow cost $4.27 for a 1/2 teaspoon of product. It comes in a 5 gram jar with a sifter. The Glam Glue was $5.89.

The lipsticks cost $7.48 for about 4 grams of product. The lipsticks took about 2 swipes to get that pigmented on my hand, but when I put them on my lips they were opaque in only 1. These lipsticks are amazing!!!! I cannot get over the colours and how good I look in them! Smoking Gun is definitely my favourite. It is a little bit dryer to apply than Psychedelic, but with a chapstick underneath it is just fine. It is also more pigmented. Here is what it looks like on my with no other product on my lips:

This colour is sooooooo pretty! I absolutely love it! It does stain a little bit, but as long as you are careful, its ok. You could also clean up your edges with concealer after to deal with that problem. The other colour is Psychedelic and this is what it looks like on the lips:

This is a really nice medium purple. I think I tried these on in the wrong order. I did the dark blue first and it stained my lips a bit, so getting this on was a bit of a mess afterwards. I have a feeling it will be slightly lighter if I start with completely clean lips next time. My lips also look a bit patchy in this picture but they were very dry and weird after trying to scrub the blue off. I will be doing a lot of looks with these in the future, so we will see how it looks then. The formula on this one is much creamier than the blue. This one feels almost exactly like I am wearing a lip balm. This shade does take a second little swipe to make it completely opaque, but that's ok.

Overall I am very impressed with this company. The lipsticks are amazing and everything else seems really good too. Shipping was also really fast. The only con so far is the packaging, which could be better. I am willing to completely overlook that for the super products inside though! I will definitely be ordering more products from them soon and doing many looks with these ones in the future.

Unboxing/Review: Lunatick Cosmetic Labs

My package finally came!!!!! I was actually beginning to worry that I was not going to receive my package. I accidentally put the wrong postal code for my shipping address, but somehow it found its way to me anyways! The package I got was from Lunatick Cosmetic Labs. I placed my order about two weeks ago and my package was sent out the very next day. It would have been here about 1 week ago probably if I hadn't messed up the postal code. I was tracking my package online and it made it into Canada about a week ago and then got sent back to the US. From Lunatick Labs, I ordered the AlieNEON Supercharged Stacker and the Helper Skelter glitter adhesive. It arrived in a very sturdy, very cute box!

Shipping to Canada was fairly reasonable. I think it was about $10. When I opened the box, everything was securely wrapped in black tissue paper and there was a sprinkling of glitter!

The glitter adhesive came in the cutest little wooden coffin! I will definitely be keeping that on my dresser or something. It is adorable, and has a little latch on the side and everything!!! Here are my two products with a quarter for size reference:

Now for a quick review of the products. I shall begin with the glitter adhesive. Helper Skelter glitter adhesive sells for $8 American and comes with 4 grams of product inside a squeezy tube. The product looks white in the tube but it is clear once you rub it onto the skin. It has a nice vanilla scent to it. This has a kind of greasy texture that never seems to completely dry. It is extremely good at getting glitter to stick though. I tried it on the back of my hand with a BH cosmetics glitter that I own and have been walking around using my hand for a few hours now and all of the glitter is still there! I tried eyeshadows over this base though, and found that it was too greasy. The website does not say anything about using this stuff with eyeshadows though, I just wanted to try it. Because of the greasiness of the product I would suggest still using a primer underneath. This stuff may crease a bit, but I have yet to find anything that actually makes glitter stay on my face properly, so I can handle a bit of creasing if I have to. Overall, I like this product, but I don't love it. I think it was very good for the price, and it does work, but I haven't found my holy grail glitter adhesive yet.

The AlieNEON Supercharged Stacker on the other hand, may be the best eyeshadows I have ever used!!! This stacker sells for $45 American and comes in two finishes. Supercharged is the glittery stacker and they also have a matte version. Normally when there is a matte option I pick that, but these were just so over the top I had to get the glittery version! There are nine insanely bright, UV reactive colours in here and each colour has 2 grams of product. This stuff unfortunately has not been approved for use on eyes in the USA by the FDA, but it has been in Canada and the UK. The packaging on these is alright. I actually hate dust stack packaging normally. The lids seem to twist off too easily and I always feel like I am going to drop it and it will shatter. This one is no different sadly, but it looks so cool that I can live with it. The jars do have sifters in them, which I like.

As for the colours inside the stack, they are AMAZING!!! I was immediately blown away before I had even opened them up or tried them out! These shades are literally brighter than highlighters! Aside from being the best colours I have ever seen, they are also very pigmented and blendable. I literally have nothing bad to say about these. All of my makeup dreams came true today when I opened this box. Here is a swatch of all the colours with and without flash:

Neither picture shows quite how intense these colours really are! The orange near the top is so bright I can't stop staring at it. It looks like it must be glowing!

Overall, I really love Lunatick Cosmetic Labs! I will definitely be getting more things from them in the future. I might, in fact, need the matte version of this some day. On top of these great products they also have a whole line of crazy coloured lipsticks, tons of eyeshadows, palettes and a few face products. They do sell things for special effects makeup as well, like their zombie paint stacker, which has every colour needed to do zombie makeup in it!

I am really glad I found this company, and hope you check them out!

Unboxing: BH Cosmetics

Hello everyone! I have just been to the post office to pick up a package from BH Cosmetics and I figured, why not put the unboxing of my new things up here?

I have ordered from BH Cosmetivs a couple of times before and both times was very happy with my purchases and the shipping. I placed my order 13 days ago, and technically it arrived yesterday it just didn't fit in my tiny apartment mailbox, so it was sent to the post office instead. 12 days for shipping may seem like a long time for some of you, but I live in Canada and to me that is fairly prompt!

I ordered from BH because I need a new foundation and noticed that theirs was on sale for 3 dollars!!! That sale is over now but the regular price is $8.95 which is still a great price. Products also go one sale on their website so often you never have to wait long for something you want to be discounted. Because the shipping actually cost more than the foundation I got a few other little goodies to round out my order. :) Without further ado, my BH Cosmetics unboxing!

\ This is what the box looked like when I got it. I was a bit worried some of my makeup would be damaged because one whole side of the box was very dented in, but when I opened it everything was very well packed up.

Here it is just opened. It comes with a little thank you card at the top, and is well packaged in tissue and cardboard.

I got the liquid foundation in Light Olive, the Glamorous Blush 10 Color Palette, the Round Stippling Brush, the Angled Definer Brush and an eyeliner sharpener, which was a free gift. I already have one of those, but I manage to break them pretty regularly somehow, so I'm ok with getting another one.

I will do reviews on all of these products once I have tested them out better, but until then here are my first impressions. The foundation feels like a really nice medium-thick coverage foundation. I am used to lightweight coverage but have been noticing some redness on my cheeks has started to show through lately and decided to try something a bit heavier. The blush palette is absolutely gorgeous! There are 5 matte and 5 shimmer shades in it and all of them are very pigmented for a blush. The brushes I got are very soft, synthetic brushes. I already have a 10 piece brush set by BH cosmetics, so I will probably do a review of all the brushes I have by them soon. As for the eyeliner sharpener I was upset at first that the larger end didn't seem to even fit my BH jumbo concealer pencil. Why would a company make a pencil sharpener that doesn't even fit all the pencils they make? A few minutes later, though, I noticed there is a removable ring to make it hole bigger, so it really does fit. They really should write that somewhere though....
